Our story
As one of the UK’s leading counter-eavesdropping companies, Esoteric has an established track record in the TSCM (Technical Surveillance Counter Measures), TRAICE, and Risk Assurance sectors, dating back to 1998. Founded by Emma Shaw—now Managing Director of Mitie Intelligence Services—Esoteric has achieved consistent year-on-year growth through the delivery of service excellence.
Operating across a range of sectors, Esoteric has delivered projects in both private and public environments, supporting clients from FTSE-listed organisations to privately owned assets. The company is widely recognised for its contribution to the counter-surveillance, cyber forensics, and information security disciplines, and for its commitment to raising industry standards through intelligence-led insight that underpins effective information and security protection.

Our reputation for delivering an exceptional service to every customer was recognised in 2021 with our acquisition by Mitie, the UK’s leading facilities management and professional services company. Esoteric sits within Mitie Intelligence Services (MIS), a division of Mitie Security.
Through MIS, Esoteric’s expertise is presented alongside other intelligence services, offering clients a converged security solution that spans strategic threat assessment, tactical counter-espionage measures, and ongoing monitoring.
