Every year, Esoteric is called on to bug sweep the boardroom of a high-value retail client in London, who is part of the luxury fashion industry. The C-suite of the business are concerned about corporate espionage either from insider threat or external threat actors, who could place illicit listening devices discreetly within the room. Esoteric are called in to do a full technical surveillance countermeasures sweep every year, to ensure the privacy and security of their premises and rooms.
The Solution
Our team arrived at the office and began to take a systematic physical and technical inspection of key areas to detect and locate illicit eavesdropping devices. We used intelligence to identify the areas of high risk, and aligned our deployment strategies according to the risk profile of the client. In this instance their particular areas of concern were insider threat and corporate espionage. Theft of information for this organisation could have significant impact to their operations, employee safety and retail market position. After the sweep had been conducted, the team left the room making sure to seal it upon leaving.
The Benefits
After completion, the client was presented with a report that highlights concerns with their security, a risk assessment undertaken by the team, and recommendations for further action. In this instance, it was detected that the AV equipment within the room was emitting an unencrypted signal, exposing them to vulnerabilities.
