The ECM-606 mobile phone blocker or jammer is a small portable unit which prevents mobile phones from receiving signals from base stations and is designed to secure areas from mobile phones of up to approximately 20m in radius. The exact range is dependent on a variety of factors, such as distance to a relevant base station (mast) and its radiating power, local propagation conditions and the type of antenna used with the ECM-606.
Operation is simple. One switch activates the unit. The indicator LEDs show the operational and battery status. An internal switch allows the user to select which bands are to be blocked.
The main factor affecting the range of the EMC-606 mobile phone blocker is the proximity and power of the base station / mast to which the phone is registered. Typical range is 10 20* metres using the small stubby-antenna. Using an alternate antennas which will focus the signal into more specific areas will increase the effective range of the unit. The SA918-606 directional antenna has a 9dBi gain so the Effective Radiated Power (ERP) is increased from 100mW to approximately 0.5 watt.
