Company X is a global defence company which undertakes TSCM services at its company premises as well as at major International Airshows where client negotiation and entertaining takes place on a regular basis. At a recent International Airshow the company invited a limited number of media representatives to a press release announcement. The representatives were given strict instructions how and when the information should be released into the public domain. During the meeting a journalist was caught transmitting the content of the meeting via an audio device.
Due to the sensitivity of the information Company X requested that the meeting was live monitored to ensure that information was not being listened into or transmitted illicitly. The TSCM engineer observed the signal activity of the journalist and was stopped before confidential information was released.
In this particular incident there was no known loss of revenue to the business, however, if an inspection had not been carried out then it is highly likely that either loss of revenue or reputation of the company would have been affected.
Company X has since increased the scope of their electronic sweeping services and live monitoring at International Airshows.
